Ruby Oleda Cannon

Ruby Oleda Cannon, 89 of Lakeland, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Good Shepherd Hospice surrounded by her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend.

She was born November 21, 1936, to the late John L. and Caroline (Albritton) Sheffield.

Mom was a faithful and devoted member of City on a Hill Church of God. She didn't just attend church, she served. She taught Sunday School, cooked countless meals and decorated for numerous church events, always working behind the scenes to make every gathering special. She went on a mission trip to New Mexico, spending her time cooking for the men who were building a church there.

More than anything, she had a true servant's heart. When someone was in need, she never hesitated to help. Giving of herself came natural to her, and her kindness touched so many lives.

Family meant everything to her. She cherished every moment spent together, laughing around the table, sharing meals, going on vacation and simply enjoying one another's company. She had a laugh that was contagious, she loved to play games, do crafts and bake. Those times brought her the greatest joy, and the love she poured into her family will continue to bind us together.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Conrad Cannon and son, Rev. Gary Cannon; Siblings: brothers, Harmon Sheffield, Horace Sheffield, Jack Sheffield, Kelly Sheffield; sisters, Infant baby, Alberta Sheffield, Beatrice Lanier, Carolyn Mendez, Alvena Blackwelder, Melbert Hinthorne, Alda Phillips.

She is survived by her loving children, Oleda Johnson (Mike) of Frostproof, Denise Grace of Lakeland, Todd Cannon (Kim) of Lakeland, Cindy Cannon daughter-in-law of Greenville, South Carolina, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her family will forever treasure her love, her wisdom, and the memories she leaves behind.

Her faith, kindness and love will live on in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed by all.
