Marlene Esther Cannon

Marlene Esther Cannon, age 90, of Southgate, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025. Born on June 25, 1935, to Henry and Martha (Schiller) Watson, Marlene devoted her life to her family and those she loved.
During her high school years, Marlene found love with Raymond Cannon, and they were married, welcoming six wonderful children into their lives. After several years, she went back to school to obtain her high school diploma. As a stay-at-home mom, she poured her heart into raising her children and creating a warm, loving home. Known for her delicious cooking, she brought joy to her family with her yearly tradition of making Christmas cookies.
Marlene cherished the outdoors and enjoyed camping trips up north in the Lake Michigan area, where she created treasured memories with her family. An avid swimmer, she loved swimming but especially in Lake Michigan, regardless of the water temperature. Marlene also enjoyed the excitement of visiting the casino whenever she had the opportunity.
As a proud mom, grandma, and great-grandma, Marlene always put her family first and made their happiness a top priority.
Her passing was preceded by her beloved husband, Raymond Cannon; son, Gary Cannon; parents Henry and Martha Watson; siblings Henry, Harold, Leonard, and George Watson, Elaine Johnson, and Lois O'Neill; and son-in-law Charles Catarino.
To cherish her memory, Marlene leaves behind her children: Denise Catarino, Richard (Linda) Cannon, Diane (Joe Charette) Cannon, Steven Cannon, and Kevin (Andrea) Cannon; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and her sister, Carole Patterson. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
