Ruby Carnes Obituary

Born April 3, 1931, in Cordele, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lummie and Mary Jones Walls. A lifelong resident of the area, Ruby devoted her life to her family and community. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Americus, where she served in the Relief Society of LDS Women. She was retired after working many years in multiple jobs but one position she held dear was as a door greeter at Walmart for 10 years, where her warm smile and kind heart touched countless lives.
She had a love for fresh strawberries and also for daisies. Ruby described daisies as being "So Bright…with Arms Wide Open."
Above all, Ruby's family was her greatest joy! She adored all of her children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, C.H. Carnes; sons, Charles H. (Crystal) Carnes and Greg Carnes; thirteen brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by her children: Gary (Bonnie) Carnes of Leslie, GA; daughters Brenda Gail Coffman of Lake Blackshear, and Tracy Webb of Andersonville; daughter-in-law Frances (Greg) Carnes; twelve grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended relatives and dear friends.
A Visitation will be held Saturday August 16, 2025 from 9:00am – 10:30am at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Andersonville City Cemetery with Matt Pierce officiating.
Pallbearers will be her nine grandsons: Richard Carnes, Michael Carnes, Dusty Carnes, Mark Carnes, Tony Carnes, Scott Carnes, Lance Styck, Chance Styck, and Vance Styck.
