Ava, Missouri
Ruby Jo Corder, 83 years, passed peacefully on March 16, 2025 at her home with her husband, Jimmie and family by her side.
Ruby was born February 9, 1942 in Wynne, AR to Samuel Spencer and Lois Cora (Moore) Morrison.
She graduated from El Monte High School in El Monte, CA.
On July 25, 1959, Ruby and Jimmie Dean Corder were united in marriage at Pasadena, CA and together were blessed with two sons, Jeffery Dean and Rodney Joe.
She was very encouraging to her husband in his career. She was a wonderful homemaker, housewife, mother, and foster mother. She later was instrumental in helping her sons in all their endeavors.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, and cooking. After moving to Ava she and Jimmie began their career as foster parents. She was a Christian and a long time member of Bethany Baptist Church in Ava, where she taught Sunday School, VBS, and worked in the nursery. Also, as part of her ministry she sewed several hundred dresses for Dress A Girl providing dresses for girls in Africa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Spencer Morrison; and her brother-in-law, Nick Coats.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Jimmie Dean; her sons, Jeffery Dean Corder and wife Stephanie, and Rodney Joe Corder and wife Kathi, all of Ava; four grandchildren, Brian and wife, Harley, Brittany and husband Benjamin White, Rose, and Elizabeth; five great grandchildren, Ryker, Killian, Remington, Hunter, and Elijah; two sisters, Virginia Coats and Anna Sievert; in-laws, Sandra Morrison and David Sievert; over 130 foster children; extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Ruby will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery, Ava, MO. Visitation will be prior to the service that Thursday at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Sorensen.
