Ruby Lois Crider

Ruby Lois (Crider) Sefrna, 89, stepped into the arms of her Savior on March 4, 2026. She was born on November 8, 1936 to Laurence Dale Zea and Ida Mae Zea.

Ruby is fondly remembered for her zeal in life. She had zeal for everything she involved herself in, but specifically for her family and her Savior. Ruby came to know the Lord as her personal Savior as a young girl. She grew up in Ames, Iowa, before meeting her first husband, Charles Brian. Charles blessed Ruby with three of her four children. She adopted her fourth child, Mike, after moving back to Iowa.

She met her second husband, Dale Crider, as a working, single mother of four. They were married shortly after. Dale eagerly stepped into being a devoted father and husband, adopting all three of the rowdy boys and Sue. They moved their family to Humeston, Iowa. This was the place Ruby would consider home for the rest of her years.

In Humeston, Ruby opened up The Cozy Inn. This restaurant would become a staple in their small town and one of her proudest accomplishments.

In retirement, Ruby would split her time between Iowa and Texas. The retirement community, Woody Acres, became a great source of joy for Ruby. She was very involved in all they had to offer, but especially took interest in their choir, The Fun Bunch. Woody Acres is also where she met her final husband, Marvin Sefrna.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Sue (Ron), her son Bud (Selah), her son Ken (Sharon); her grandchildren Casey (Amber), Krista (Mike), Jessica (Bryan), Katie, Chelsea (Kelly), Nick (Mary), Michaela (Tyler), Troy (Audrey) and Isaiah; her many great-grandchildren and countless others who she gathered under her wings as "children" and "grandchildren."

She was preceded in death by her parents Laurence, Ida Mae, and her step-mother Faye; her siblings Lucille, Dale, Stan, Jim, Louise, Kenny, and Ruth; her husbands Charles, Dale, and Marvin; her son Mike; her grandchildren Jeffery, Emily and Victoria.

The family will greet guests on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The visitation is at 1pm at First Baptist Church (233 Broad St. Humeston, IA 50123), with the funeral following at 2:00pm.
