Harry Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laurel Oaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park on Feb. 23, 2026.
Harry Dean Wright, 78, of Winnsboro, Texas passed away on February 20, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1947, in Chariton, Iowa to Harold Clifford Wright and Velma Lucinda Loney Wright.

Harry attended school in Derby, Iowa then transferred to Mormon Trail Community School in Garden Grove, Iowa. Upon his graduation from high school, he entered the Air Force in which he proudly served for twenty years all over the world including the Philippines, Libya and bravely served in the Vietnam conflict where he and his squadron earned many commendations. When he retired from the military, he became a computer programming teacher at Judson High School. After that, he worked civil service for the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He retired after twenty years as a GS13.

On June 14, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart Margaret Louise Coffey. They had two sons, Franklin Lee and Robert Joseph Wright. They were blessed with five grandchildren Rebecca Bauman, Frances Duzick, Raelynn Rose and Thoman Dean Wright, and Carolyn Alvarado.

Harry loved collecting models of old cars and going to car shows. But he was happiest when he was around his grandchildren. In 2018, he and Louise moved to Winnsboro in east Texas to be closer to their youngest son and their two youngest grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Louise Wright; his parents Harold and Velma Wright; brothers Orville, Wilbur, Dick, Willard, and Jerry; and his sister Leta Marie.

He is survived by his two sons Robert Wright and wife Kate, and Franklin Wright and wife Rose; his grandchildren Rebecca, Frances, RaeLynn, Thomas, and Carolyn; and several nieces and nephews.
