MRS. RUBY MAE "PETE" CUMMINGS, age 95, a resident of Warrenton and Health Rehabilitation, formerly of 450 Oak Street, Warrenton, GA passed on Monday, August 18th, 2025. Family members and friends may call at the funeral home. THOMSON FUNERAL SYSTEM, Thomson, GA oversees all arrangements.

Ruby Mae "Pete" Cummings, 95, of Warrenton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, after a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family and faith.

Born on April 21, 1930, in Hancock County to Ada Bell Cummings and Ellis Hall. Ruby "Pete" was raised by her grandmother, Zeffie McCrary Cummings at the age of twelve after her mother's untimely passing. She grew up in the home of her elders cultivated by a spirit of warmth and resilience at an early age. In her adulthood she dedicated herself to building a nurturing home and fostering strong family bonds just as her Ma Zeffie instilled in her.

Ruby "Pete" was the unwavering heart of her family, providing a constant source of support, strength and unconditional love. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart and soul into their lives. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of perseverance and faith, and her guidance will continue to resonate through generations.

Beyond her devotion to family, Ruby "Pete" was known for her radiant unbreakable spirit, her prideful expressions and her passion to celebrate life. Those who knew her will fondly remember her for her ability to light up every room with joy, and laughter by being unapologetically herself.

Ruby "Pete" was predeceased by her husband, Donald Dan "Duck" Johnson; sons, John Henry Brown, Barry Brown, Hugh Roberts Jr.; daughters, Angela Brown Harkley, Patricia Brown Clifton; parents, Ada Bell Cummings and Ellis Hall; grandparents, Ivory & Zeffie Cummings; sister, Luvada Cummings Hawkins Sparks; granddaughter, Tunisa Brown Few; and a great-grandson, Tyquavian Few.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her son, William Brown of Savannah, Georgia; four daughters, Linda Pounds (Caron) of Warrenton, Georgia, Deborah Bell (Willie) of Warrenton, Georgia, Edith Dukes of Warrenton, Georgia and Sharon Cummings of Thomson, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and a devoted granddaughter at heart, Shawn L Kuhn of Warrenton, Georgia.
