Ruby Lora Duncan passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in College Station, Texas, at the age of 95. She was born on January 27, 1930, in Birmingham, Michigan, and was raised in the heart of Indiana, where she began a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to family.
Ruby was a woman of deep faith who truly lived by the principles of love, patience, and generosity. Her unwavering devotion to God and Jesus was reflected in the way she cared for others. Ruby’s heart was open to all, and her love knew no bounds. She created a home filled with warmth, kindness, and acceptance that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
During her years in Indiana, Ruby developed many lifelong passions. She loved gardening, working on puzzles, and playing board and card games with family and friends. Some of her happiest moments were spent on the back porch, grilling and barbecuing with family. She also loved and looked forward to family reunions in Indy. Truly, Ruby enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, such as watching sports, tuning into her favorite game shows, and keeping up with reality television.
A proud Baptist, Ruby stayed faithful to her beliefs every day of her life. Her mornings always began with scripture and reflection over a cup of coffee. She often said that the births of her children were the greatest days of her life and she treasured every memory made with them. Family vacations to Rockport, Texas, and surprise vacations with her daughters in Florida were among her most cherished moments.
Ruby’s family was her greatest treasure. She is survived by five devoted daughters, Linda Sue Grimes, Rita Kay Dobbs, Deborah Carol Baker and husband Ted, Patricia Joan Cain and husband Mike, and Cheryl Anna Russell and husband Dan; grandchildren Bobby and Melinda Grimes, Matthew Dobbs and wife Lexi, Brandy Miller, Hud Baker and wife Krystal, Jenny Bilyeu and husband Paul, Michael Duncan and wife Erica, Brian Duncan and wife Amanda, Donald Jr. and wife Holly, Steve Herndon and wife Susanna, and Nikki McCleney, Tracey Roberts and Kayce Herndon; great-grandchildren Austin and wife Madison, Taylor and husband Austin, Mitchell and wife Summer, Mark Joseph and wife Casey, Jaxson, Mason, Maygen, Zach, Drew, Whitney and husband Matt, Haley and husband Tyler, Hudson, Brystal, Justin and wife Megan, Alex, Bailey, Carter, Ryder, Cody, Jesse, Forrest, Emma, Cameron, Darby, Kayse and husband Joshua, Leah, Austin, Brittany and husband Justin, Micheal and wife Sarah, Rayne, Julianna, Blade, Hunter, Gage, Madison Hope; and great-great-grandchildren Andrew, Scott, Lainey, Oliver, Delilah, Shiloh, Jamison, Madelyn, Brookson, Kayliee, Jordyn, Kendall, Alayna, Violet, Aubrey, Coren, Alexzander, Natasha, and Landon.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Laura Anna Kirchoff and William Warner; her devoted husband, Thomas Doyle Duncan; her siblings, Opal Green, Dallas Warner, Mildred Riggle, Barbara Davis, Howard Warner, Bill Scales, and Leon Warner; sons Thomas Jr., Donald, and Ronald Duncan; son-in-law Bob Grimes; granddaughter Michelle Adams; grandsons Adam Grimes, Jonathan McCleney, and Thomas Duncan III; and great-grandson Michael Speelman. The love shared among family and friends will echo in their hearts forever.
Ruby’s life was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and family. Her legacy will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
