Scott Jones Obituary

Scott A. Jones of Carmel, IN, passed away on March 2, 2026, at the age of 64. He was born in Indianapolis, IN, on April 6, 1961, to parents, Lewis and Martha (Bishop) Jones. He was the youngest of five brothers.

He is survived by sons, Tyler L. Jones, Nicholas K. Jones, and by brothers William (“Bill”) R. Jones and Gregory (“Greg”) L. Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis & Martha Jones and by his brothers Dennis (“Denny”) W. Jones and Bradley (“Brad”) L. Jones. Scott graduated from Avon High School (’79) and Ball State University (’83).

Scott was a man defined by his spirit and personality. He was larger than life and did not know a stranger. Scott prided himself on being a loyal friend to everyone in his life. He was a proud and caring father who loved his sons more than anything else in the world.

Scott was driven to make sure that he gave his best and that everyone else did the same. He began working at the Department of Weights and Measures and held dishonest vendors accountable when they overcharged. Following his tenure with the state, he spent most of his career working as an insurance claims adjuster, arbitrator, and specialist, and traveling the state to investigate and help resolve complex disputes. In his tenure, he took pride in his work, priding himself on his ability to handle the hardest jobs that were beyond others. Scott was never a man to do any less than his best.

An avid sports fan, Scott loved watching Colts and Pacers games with his friends and family, though his favorite time of the year was March Madness. Besides sports, Scott loved history and enjoyed all things related with documentaries, museums and books. Though of all his joys, he loved nothing more than going to his favorite bar, playing Euchre while surrounded by friends. Scott was a man truly at his happiest in the company of those to whom he was closest.
