Ruby Fairchild Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service - Roann Chapel on Oct. 18, 2025.
Ruby Joyce (Little) Fairchild, 72, died peacefully with family around her on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Parkview Health Randallia in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ruby was born on June 12, 1953, in Bath County, Kentucky, to Alfred and Della (Jefferson) Little. She married Willis Lee Fairchild in 1971. They were married for 46 years before his passing; they had five children during their marriage.
Ruby enjoyed reading the Bible, sewing, going to church, and spending time with her family. She was always open to talking about Jesus to anyone. Her faith was always strong and she had no trouble telling people about her faith; she loved Jesus with all her heart. She was a member of The Breath Church, in Akron, Indiana since 2020. Some of her last words were, "I'm in God's hands." Ruby was always a fighter her entire life-even at the end of her life, she continued to fight. She loved being with her family and struggled leaving them even though she knew she was headed to her eternal home. Ruby had a compassionate heart for her pets over the years.
Ruby is survived by her children, James Lee Fairchild, Tammy Michelle Shelton, and Clinton Wesley Fairchild; 18 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Ruby also raised two of her grandchildren, Jazmine Paige Fairchild and Christian Lee Sloan, as well as her brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Michael Sadler and Sheila Honeycutt. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Selima Janette Rose, and Sherry Arlene Fairchild; grandson, Jeffrey Shelton; five sisters, Virgie Purvis, Wilma Sorrell, Bessie Singleton, Bertha Richmond, and Ethel Staton; three brothers, Jesse Little, Claude Little, and Roy Little, as well as three infant siblings; sister-in-law, Sheila Honeycutt and several other in-laws.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2025 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 Chippewa Road, Roann, Indiana with Pama Poe officiating. Burial will be in Roann Cemetery. Friends may call 9-11 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is The Breath Church, Akron.
