Ruby Fritel

Ruby Rebecca Fritel, 69, of Watford City, North Dakota, passed away on April 11th, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 3rd, 1955, in Cando, North Dakota, Ruby lived a life full of grit, laughter, and deep love for her people.
Ruby was proudest of two things in life: raising her children and drinking Busch Light-sometimes at the same time. She was known for her sharp wit, strong will, and generous spirit. Whether it was through a warm meal, a well-timed joke, or an ear ready to listen, Ruby had a way of making people feel right at home.
In addition to being the heart of her family, Ruby found joy in the simple pleasures-digging in the dirt with her green thumb, tending to her garden, spending time with her beloved dogs, Chubs and Max (especially if there were snacks involved), and relaxing in her pool with a cold drink in hand, soaking up the sun like a true queen of leisure.
She is survived by her loving husband, Don; her children, Lana (Daryl) Meuchel, Treva (Randy) Cuzzort, Jessica Fritel, Don (Bonnie), and Kimberly Fritel
Her legacy continues in her grandchildren, Aaron Cuzzort; Andrea Cuzzort, Carter Dougherty, Jayce Fritel, Brooke Fritel, Heather Ellis, Emily Cuzzort, Daniel (Haley Goodwin) Cuzzort, Jacob Scotty, Rebecca (Rudy) Guillen, and Apryll Pierce, great grandchildren, Layne Oliver Cuzzort, Asher Rain Travino, RJ, Jesse, and Ivy.
She is also survived by her sisters; Karen Peters, Linda (Nyle) Nelson, Beverly (Sam) Juma, Louetta Wood, Wendy (OB) Haugen, brother; Mike (Judy) Wood, and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved son; Jesse Pierce; her mother; Mildred "Millie" Martin; her father Oscar Wood, and her sisters; Paulette Hamdan, Kathy Davis, great-granddaughter; Eden May Hoyt.
Ruby's strength, humor, and unconditional love will live on in those she leaves behind.
In honor of Ruby, raise a cold Busch Light and toast to a life well lived.
