Ruby Edmonds Gill, age 103, passed away on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025 at the Apostolic Christian Home after a period of declining health.

Ruby was born in Schoolfield, VA on March 29, 1922 and was the youngest of James I. and Lucy A. (Simpson) Edmonds 11 children. Her father died when she was 5 and the family knew hard times as they lived through the Great Depression. She graduated from high school in Burlington, NC in 1939 and served in the Women's Army Corp division of the U.S. Army from Aug. 5, 1943 - Nov. 29, 1945 which she said was a great experience in her life. She met her husband Robert H. Gill on a ship enroute to New Guinea and they married on Jan. 28, 1946 after WWII ended. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2004. They had raised their family in North Olmsted and Westfield Center where she was a member of the garden club and had worked at Advance Bronze in Lodi. In retirement they moved to Duluth, GA where she was active in the Gwinnett County Senior Center, at church, and the local VA hospital. Ruby is remembered for being an excellent seamstress who made her children's clothing as well as many craft items for the family. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ.

Surviving are her children, Nancy (Jeanne) Gill of Blue Ridge, GA, James (Pam) Gill of Charleston, SC, Sandra (the late Bruce) Grossenbacher of Seville and Linda Gill of Colorado Springs, CO, 4 grandchildren, Joshua (Abigail) Grossenbacher, Jillian (James) Ashbrook, Louisa (Jeffrey) Floyd, and Caroline (Bradley) Webb, and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, son-in-law Bruce, and brothers and sisters Luther, Hal, James "Rufus", William "Paul", Rex and Reo Edmonds, Ollie Hill, Opal Goude, Mamie Chilton, and an infant sister.

A celebration of Ruby's life will be held at a later date with burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
