Ruby Elizabeth Gilliland

Ruby Elizabeth Gilliland, age 86, of Gadsden, AL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Antioch Church of Christ in Collinsville; AL. Brother David Wallace will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will accept friends from 1:00PM until the hour of the service at the church.
Mrs. Gilliland was a graduate of Etowah High School. She spent many years at the Baptist Hospital, and held many job titles. Ruby also worked with David and Mary Wallace for over 25 years. She was a member of Antioch Church of Christ. Her heart was big and she loved her family and friends dearly. Ruby had a special companion, a cat named yellow kitty, who she loved very much.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Tim and Zella Gladden; husband, William Gilliland; son, Timothy Gilliland; and brother, James Gladden.
Ruby is survived by her chosen family, David (Mary) Wallace, Amy (Jacob) Kayl, Michael (Maridith) Wallace; chosen grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Anna, Elizabeth, and Abigail Kayl, Mary James Wallace, Jacob Kayl, Jr., and Kaitlyn (Gavin) Jernigan.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to special nurses Shelia, Tammie, and Kelley, Kelley Strain and Hope Hospice, and Dr. Anthony Sims.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
