P assword; Glisson

Sunrise 6/18/1933 - Sunset 2/16/2026

Ruby Glisson was born June 18th 1933 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Blaney and Lula Washington. She departed this life for her heavenly home on February 16th 2026 surrounded by her loved ones

Ruby went through the Sumter school system and graduated. She later met the man that would become her husband, the late Thomas Glisson. They moved north and made Neptune, New Jersey their home. Of that union 9 children were born

Having been raised in the church, she joined Bethel AME Church where she was a member for over 50 years. Having served as a stewardess, president of the gospel chorus and on the scholarship committee. She later joined St Stephens AME Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. Derinzer Johnson. There she sang in the choir until the COVID pandemic. She visited a lot of churches in the area because she always said "she enjoyed a good church service and bible study." She then joined Encounter Christ Global Fellowship under the leadership of Rev. Semaj Vanzant.

Ruby was a loving and kind person. She had a love for farming and would spend hours at various farms picking fresh vegetables and fruits only to give most of it away. She loved to bake and was known for her sweet potato pies, she would have at least 10 to 12 in the freezer ready to go if anyone asked for one. She would make the filling just to have it.

Ruby loved to travel and has been all over Europe, she especially loved going to Israel and Jerusalem.

Ruby was predeceased by her siblings Blaney and Joseph Washington and Rebecca Nelson. Her daughter Anna, her grandchildren Dr. Gerald, Donnell, Dana, Tymyra and Porscha Glisson. Her great grandson Jason (JJ) Glisson. Daughter in law Barbara Glisson, and granddaughter in law Michelle Glisson.

She leaves to cherish her memory and wisdom her children Lula M. King, Thomas, Eugene, Garry, Carol and Regina Glisson all of Neptune. Debbie Brown and Leila Glisson of Asbury Park. 1 brother Willie Washington of Sumter S.C. 13 grands, 44 great grands and 13 great great grands. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, her honorary daughter Celeste D. Miller, adopted son Dr. Randy Hawkins and her best friend of over 60 years Lizzie P. Moseley.

Ruby had such an impact on so many children and young adults. She was called the community Nana and will be truly missed by all.
