Ruby Jo Hammock

Mrs. Ruby Jo Hammock, age 69 of Portland, Tennessee went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, June 11, 2023. Ruby was born on December 13, 1953 in Lafayette, Tennessee to the late J. C. and Clara Dillard.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Eugene Hammock; granddaughter, Brooke Clayton; brother, Lane Dillard and sister, Lallie Warden.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jerry Hammock; daughter, Tammy (David Scott) Clayton; granddaughter, DJ (Tony) Garrett; grandson, Josh (Chelsea) Clayton; great-grandchildren, Sage Garrett, Skylar Garrett, Andrew Clayton, and Wyatt Clayton.
In loving memory of Ruby, we say goodbye to an amazing person who brought joy to everyone around her. Ruby loved books and would spend hours reading. Ruby's home was adorned with shelves overflowing with books, she would often be found sitting at her favorite chair, completely engrossed in a novel, her imagination soaring with each turn of the page. She had a deep love for Jesus and enjoyed singing hymns, often writing out scriptures that spoke to her. Flowers were her passion, and she took great care of her beautiful flowers. Family meant everything to Ruby, and she cherished her family dearly, finding strength and happiness in their presence. Her dog, Buddy, was her loyal friend. Ruby's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 5 PM from the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Portland with Pastor B. J. Barnes officiating. Interment will follow the service at Siloam Cemetery in Westmoreland, Tennessee with Patrick Malm, Timmy Wix, Brian Wade, Jeff Wilkerson, Herbert Warden, and David Clayton serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Rosa Tillery, Chandra Randolph, and Melinda Scott.. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, June 15th from 11:00 AM until service time at 5 PM.
