Ruby May Hanson

Ruby May Hanson, age 95, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Willow Creek Lutheran Church, rural Dell Rapids. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday, at the church. Memorials may be directed to Willow Creek Lutheran Church or Willow Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
Ruby was born on April 24, 1928, to Arthur and May (Taylor) Klanderud in Maskell, Nebraska. At the age of one, her family piled into their Model T Ford and made the frigid drive to Flandreau so that her father could work for a WPA project. Ruby attended country and in-town school and later continued her education at hair styling school in Sioux Falls. Ruby met Marvin Hanson at the Arkota Ballroom in Sioux Falls. They were married on April 4, 1948, at Willow Creek Lutheran Church. After her children were in school, she worked as a seamstress for Raven Industries and cleaned homes. She was an active member of Willow Creek Lutheran Church. Marvin passed away on December 25, 2012.
Survivors include her children: Mervin (Mary) Hanson, Sioux Falls, Kathy Rindels, Dell Rapids, and Linda Hanson, Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, Candice (fiancée Dustin) Hanson, Courtney Hanson, Caitlyn (Jordon) Beardsley, Nathan (Courtney) Hanson, Dustin (Katie) Hanson and Mitchell Hanson; and five great grandchildren, Caleb Hanson, Cameron Hanson, Henley Hanson, Jace Beardsley, and Josie Beardsley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; son, Perry; grandson, Seth; and brothers, Lowell, Albert, and Delmar.
