Ruby Hawkins

Gastonia Ruby Tankersley Hawkins, age 89, passed away on July 24, 2011 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Valley, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Harris Tankersley. Ruby was a long-time member of Loray Baptist Church where she formerly worked as the church secretary. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and loved being around her family and friends. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Charles Ray and Brenda Hawkins of Gastonia, sister, Evelyn Ussery and husband Jasper of Valley, AL, grandsons, Jason Hawkins and wife Shannon, Brian Hawkins and wife Sarah, all of Boone, great grandchildren, Bryson, Cole and Lauren Hawkins. Funeral Services will be held at 3PM, Tuesday at Loray Baptist Church with Dr. Kent Cranford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral in the sanctuary.
