Ruby Hester Holloway

Ruby Hester Holloway, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at her home. Ruby grew up in Missouri and met her husband, Harlon Holloway, while in school. They started dating in Michigan while both families worked the fruit orchards. After returning home to Missouri, Ruby and Harlon married in 1951 and Harlon joined the Air Force soon after. The Air Force afforded them the opportunity to travel to many places in the world including Germany (where Debbie was born), France, Pennsylvania (where Mike was born) and the Philippines (where Jeff was born). They finally settled in D'Iberville, Mississippi where Harlon served at his last duty station, Keesler Air Force Base.
Ruby worked for Swingster Jacket Factory in Ocean Springs, MS beginning in 1975, where she was a seamstress and quality control supervisor until her retirement in 1990. After retiring Ruby and her husband moved back to their hometown of Kennett, MO to care for her mother and spent many happy year raising her two grandaughters. Ruby loved to read and complete crossword and word search puzzles. After moving to Richland, MS and in the last year of her life, she started attending the Abigayle Adult Day Care Center where she made many friends and enjoyed the activities she participated.
She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Harlon Dee Holloway; her son, Michael Dee Holloway; her parents, LV and Maybell Folkes; as well as many siblings.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Jimmie) Morgan, and Jeffrey (Kim) Holloway; grandchildren, Benjamin Morgan, Jonathon Waagner (Curtis), Leslie Osoria (Carlos) and Jennifer Gregory (Kyle); great grandchildren, Sophia Tefft and Barrett Gregory; her sisters, Janet Counts (Jim), Alma Lea Garcia, and brother, Don Folkes. Private visitation for family will be on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd. Ocean Springs, MS. No other services to be held. Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Ruby Holloway to the Abigayle Adult Day Center at 205 Industrial Cove, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
