John “Johnny” Lee Hanson, Jr., age 78 of Biloxi, MS, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marie and Augusta Windom and Gracie Bellais; and his parents, Louise and John Hanson, Sr.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathleen Cleary Hanson; his children, Jeffery (Dixie) Hanson and Joelle (Douglas) Daring; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way; and his brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Chris Cleary.
Born and raised in Biloxi, Mississippi, Johnny was a proud graduate of Biloxi High School, Class of 1965. He spent many years working in retail management, a career that allowed him to make his home in several cities throughout Florida. Johnny also dedicated a few years of service to the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs.
He found great joy in fishing, boating, and camping, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with family. Family gatherings were especially cherished and remained the most important part of his life.
A Celebration of Johnny's Life will be held from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his residence. Graveside service will be held at a later date at Southern Memorial Park Cemetery.
