Joseph Anthony Giametta, Sr.

Joseph Anthony Giematta, Sr., age 97 of Biloxi, MS, entered into the arms of the Lord on March 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his much-loved wife of 32 years, Laura Giametta; his father, Charles; his mother, Theresa DeCarlo; his stepmother, Josephine Chiniche; his siter, Camella Cates; his brothers, Charles Giametta and Ambrose James Giametta; and his devoted son, Christopher T. Giametta.

Mr. Giametta is survived by his sister, Lucille (Leo) Parker; his sons, Curtis A. "Tony" (Janet) Giametta and Joseph A. (Susan) Giametta, Jr.; his daughter, Theresa (Mike) Giametta Tolson; 14 grandchildren; many, many great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith with an unwavering devotion to God and his family, and a life well lived. He will be remembered with love, laughter, and a tender giving heart.

As a young man, Joseph served in the Mississippi National Guard of the United States Army where he taught fellow soldiers, deployed to Korea, hand to hand combat and mortar artillery fire. He then joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 568. He engineered plumbing jobs for many legendary Gulf Coast structures such as the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum, Pascagoula Singing River Hospital, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a parishioner. He retired as a Master Plumber foreman.

He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid gardener, he loved nothing more than tiling the soil, planting seeds, and harvesting corn, okra, collard greens, and his beloved tomatoes for which he shared with many. He was an inventor, never using the computer, but was always inventing and designing plumbing and agriculture products such as the "Tomato Booster," "Multi-Pipe Trap Adapter," and a "Concealed Toilet" for vehicles just to name a few for which he was awarded patents. His wisdom, knowledge, and determination were appreciated and will be missed.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., Biloxi, MS, with burial to follow at Biloxi City Cemetery. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 10446 Lemoyne Blvd, D'Iberville, MS 39540, with visitation beginning at 10:30 am. Reception to immediately follow Mass, location will be updated once determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name and honor to Sacred Heart Catholic Church St. Vincent de Paul Society.
