Ruby Scott Huggins, 87, of Kinston passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her one true love and soul mate, Thomas Huggins; son, Ruben and his wife, Angela; her parents, Elijah and Carrie Scott; and a sister, Edna Adams.
Ruby spent her adult life working alongside her husband until they retired together, she enjoyed cooking and caring for her family every chance she could. Her favorite thing outside the home was her early mornings on the water with Tom and Ruben or both fishing till one of them told her it was time to go in. She loved her family but most of all she loved her Lord and spent her life being an example to the ones around her.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Lisa Barefoot (Andy); grandchildren, Ashley Fordham (Justin), Heather Sloan (Stephen), Drew Barefoot (Rock), Ryan Barefoot, and Reid Barefoot (Ally); great-grandchildren, Daniel, Tiffany and Colton Fordham, and Scarlet Barefoot; great grandpup, Sage Sloan; sister, Fran Cockrell (Donny); and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to her caregivers, Tammy and Lisa for being there like family.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11am in the Edwards Funeral Chapel. The burial will be conducted Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 11am in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel FWB Church,1936 Banks School Road, Kinston, NC 28504.
