Ruby W. Hummel

Ruby W. Hummel, 94, of Anderson, passed away on April 4, 2020 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born on January 8, 1926 the 6th of 9 children in the Independence community near Livingston, TN to the late Ernest and Edith (Hicks) Winningham. She married Freeman Hummel and they had a son, James (Randy) Hummel. They moved to Anderson in 1950. Ruby retired from Guide Lamp in 1994 and was member of local UAW 663. She was a member of the East 38th Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, walking in Mounds State Park and was a loyal democrat. She is survived by her son, Randy Hummel and wife, Barbara, grandson, Joseph R. Hummel, Lansing, MI, granddaughter, Dr. Jennifer Hummel Carlos, Carmel, IN, great-grandsons, Jonathan and Nathaniel Carlos, a sister, Lillian Sherrill, of Livingston, TN, and step-daughter, Stephanie Dumas, Newark, OH. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 brothers, and 1 sister. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice, East 38th Street Baptist Church, or charity of donor's choice. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Mark Lawler and his office staff and all of Ruby's caregivers. Also, to her dear friends, Charlotte Wise, Gary Webb, and Paul Rusher. A Private Family Farewell will be held at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home.
