Born on July 24, 1938, Ruby’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to family, education, and the nurturing of her peers.
As a long-time member of St. John Church Unleashed in Grand Prairie, Texas, Ruby exemplified the essence of faith and community service. Her warm spirit and nurturing heart resonated deeply within the walls of her church, where she made lasting connections and offered encouragement to countless individuals. Through her steadfast belief in the power of unity and love, she fostered a welcoming environment that embraced all.
Ruby’s academic pursuits were equally commendable, having achieved a Bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University, followed by a Master’s degree from Texas Southern University. Her commitment to lifelong learning continued as she obtained certification from Southern Methodist University, embodying her profound belief that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” a cherished quote from Nelson Mandela that she held close to her heart.
Her vibrant personality was characterized by warmth, kindness, and an infectious joy that could light up any room. Family-oriented and deeply passionate about the importance of education, Ruby dedicated her life to lifting others, ensuring they understood the strength gained through knowledge and compassion. She took pride in her roles within her family, particularly as a sister to Millie Jefferson and an aunt to Regina Carter. Her legacy will undoubtedly live on through the love and values she instilled in them and all who had the privilege of her company.
Services to honor Ruby's remarkable life will be held at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. A viewing will take place from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on July 9, 2025, allowing friends and family to pay their respects. The celebration of her life will continue with a funeral service at St. John Unleashed in Grand Prairie on July 10, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM, where attendees will gather to reflect on her life, share memories, and find solace in one another’s company as they bid farewell to a truly extraordinary woman.
