On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 7:20 a.m., Sister Ruby McGuire, a native of Houma, Louisiana, was called home to take her eternal rest. She has gone to a place where the wicked shall cease from troubling, and the weary shall be at rest. A place where streets are paved with gold, and every day is Sunday.

Sister Ruby McGuire, known for her radiant smile and kind spirit, was born on November 9, 1938, in Houma, Louisiana, to the late Edna M. Westbrook Smith and Clarence Smith, Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Houma. She later served faithfully as a Deaconess for fifty years at St. Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Frank L. Lewis. In later years, she joined Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Elijah McGarty, where she continued her walk with Christ.

On May 31, 1957, she united in marriage with Taylor McGuire. To this union, four children were born: the late Baby Ronald McGuire, the late Elaine M. Vincent, Glenda M. Hamlin, and Kathy L. McGuire. Sister Ruby was employed for over twenty years with Maison Blanche and Krauss in retail before retiring.

The pathway to Glory was paved by her loved ones who preceded her in death: her parents, Clarence and Edna W. Smith; her sister, Hilda M. Marshall; her brother, Clarence Smith Jr.; her children, Baby Ronald McGuire and Elaine M. Vincent; and her grandsons, Leonard Vincent and Randy Irons, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted daughters, Glenda M. Hamlin and Kathy L. McGuire; three grandchildren, Damon Hamlin, Rashon Irons, and Kashon Irons; four great-grandchildren, Rayne Gordon, Kaige Branxton, Jett Branxton, and Charlee Coleman; her sister-in-law, Annette J. McGuire; her dearest friend of more than sixty-one years, Nellie Weary; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
