Ruby Richardson, 100, of Phenix City, Al, entered her heavenly home on October 15, 2024. Ruby was born in Abbeville, Al on September 6, 1924, to the late Mary and John Robert Buxton. After graduating high school, she worked for Premium Candy Company until she retired. Ruby married the love of her life, Goat Richardson, in 1949 and remained his faithful and dedicated wife even after his passing in 1976. She was the youngest of 8 children and loved her family. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and playing dominos. Ruby loved to cook, especially meals for her family, and spent a lot of time outside gardening. She loved being in her home and was known to be a blessing to other people. She dedicated significant time to helping others and was happy to do so. She was easygoing, caring, and a very loving wife and mother. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Ruby Richardson is preceded in death by her husband, Goat Richardson; parents, Mary and John Robert Buxton; son, Jerry Earnest; 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Ruby Richardson is survived by her son, Jerome Richardson (Ramona) of Phenix City, Al; grandson, Eric Earnest of Phenix City, Al; bonus grandsons, Joshua Johnson and Joseph William Johnson (Jessie); and bonus great-grandson, Jacob Johnson, and lifelong friend Ruthie Carpenter.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, Al 36867, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00. Services will conclude at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 3800 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, Al 36867.
