CWO3 (Ret) Robert Larry Kay, 93, of Perry, GA passed away early Monday morning, January 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am EST, Thursday, January 8, 2025, at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with Brother Jack Christianson officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside service.
Mr. Kay was born January 4, 1933, in Abbeville, AL, son of the late Charles C. Kay and Mary Blalock Kay. He served our country honorably and was a Veteran of the United States Army, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. After his service career, he taught automotive for 25 years at Columbus Tech impacting many young people’s lives where they learned skillsets for their future opportunities. He was a Mason with the Wilson Williams Masonic Lodge, Phenix City Shrine Club, and a member of the Alcazar. He enjoyed woodworking and electronics. He was formally a member of Summerville Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL and currently a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in the Perry ward. Mr. Kay will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Louise Moore Kay.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Odessa Hart Kay of Perry, GA; daughter, Kathy Spratlin and husband Wayne of Madison, MS; sons, Steve Kay of Ft. Walton, FL, Dr. David Kay and wife Clelia of Macon, GA; sister, Lucy Grant and husband Jessie of Auburn, Al; grandchildren, Allen Haefner, Bryan Haefner, Savannah Kay, Caroline Kay and David Alejandro Kay; great grandchildren Charlotte and Emerson.
