Ruby Smith Obituary
Ruby L. Smith, of East Orange peacefully transitioned at the age of 97 on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at her home.
The visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 S. Orange Ave. South Orange, NJ 07079 on Saturday, October 12 from 10-11am followed by a funeral service at 11am. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Montclair.
Ruby was born and raised in Lake Providence, LA. Her family then migrated to Virginia first, then Long Island City, NY before settling in East Orange, NJ for the last 60 years. She worked as a supervisor in the marketing department for PSE&G in Newark for 23 years.
Ruby is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Delroy Smith and her daughter Carol Ann Speaks. She is survived by her two daughters, Kendall Smith McCombs, her husband David, Melissa Smith-Withers, and stepdaughter Dorothy Roberts, her husband Selwyn, her ten grandchildren, Carlos, Monique, Michelle, David, Jr. Haki, Maya, Brandon, Naja, Shelley and Sheldon.
