Ruby Elizabeth Stewart McCoy, 81, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025. She was born on January 14, 1944, in Carrollton, KY, to Ernest "Dutch" and Thelma Eaves Stewart.
Ruby was a server for 35 years at Bob Evans Restaurant in Louisville, where she had many customers who were special to her. She loved her husband, Larry, immensely, and treasured their 36 years of marriage. He often said that he found his gem when he found Ruby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Frank McCoy; son, Robert Garriott; grandson Matthew McCoy; brother, Willard Robbins; son-in-law, Randy Corbitt; sisters-in-law, Patsy Stewart, and Jodie Kost; brother-in-law, Jim Kost; and her in-laws, Lula Kost, Robert Frank and Doris McCoy.
Ruby is Survived by her children, Roger Garriott (Debbie), Elizabeth Corbitt, Larry Joe McCoy, Alan (Adrienne) and Douglas McCoy; brother Melvin Stewart; sister-in-law, Cheryl Kost, as well as numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Sunday, August 31, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany Indiana, 47150.
The family requests that donations in her honor be made to American Diabetes Association.
