Ruby Tart Stewart

Erwin, NC: Mrs. Ruby Tart Stewart, age 92, of Erwin passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. A Graveside Service will be held-3:00 PM Sunday, January 4, 2025 at Williams Family Cemetery in Coats. Officiating will be Rev. Wesley Hamilton.

Mrs. Stewart was born on July 6, 1933 in Harnett County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Gertie Wood; husband, Lelan “Buddy” Stewart; brothers, Glenn Wood, Thurman Wood, Bruce Tart, and Brooks Tart; and sister, Ruth Knowlton. Prior to retirement, she worked for many years at Erwin Mills. She was a devout Christian and was a member of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church in Erwin. Mrs. Stewart was known best for her baking, baking cakes and pies for her family and church family became a ministry for her to share her love. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren. To know her was to love her and she never met a stranger, her love made an impact on all who knew her.

Survivors include her son, Daniel Stewart and wife, Susan; grandchildren, Aaron Stewart and Ashley Stewart; great grandchild, Avery Stewart; brother, Wayne Wood and wife, Mary Anne; nieces, Barbara Brantley, Amanda Wood Wise, and Pam Helms; nephews, David Wood, Terry Wood, Randy Wood, and Glenn Wood; and many beloved nieces and nephews on the Stewart side of the family. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats.
