With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruby Mae Taylor, a beloved wife, mother, Nanna, and sister, who departed this world on Sunday, February 15th, 2026, at the age of 82. Ruby was a cherished resident of Louisville, KY, though she began her journey in Franklin, KY, where she was born on Monday, July 26th, 1943.
Ruby was the devoted wife of Kenneth Taylor, with whom she shared 62 and a half years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. She is profoundly missed by her son, Scott Taylor, and his spouse, Sena, and grandsons, Kessler and Miller, of Noblesville, IN. Ruby also leaves behind her cherished sister, Francis Gertie Poor, and her husband, Jim, of Clayton, IN; her brother, Larry Davenport of Summerville, GA; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, JH and Louise England of Franklin, KY; and her brother-in-law, Clarence Taylor of Gamaliel, KY, and her many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ruby in death were her beloved parents, Alvis Cleveland Davenport and Annie Gertrude (Gulley) Davenport, and her siblings, Dorothy Parker, Aileen Boyd, Helen Anderson, and Ann Uhls.
After attending Franklin-Simpson High School, Ruby worked at Dispensers Optical Service Corp in Louisville, KY before having her son, Scott and later as a store representative and marketer for a food broker. However, her greatest role was that of a stay-at-home mom, a role that brought her immense joy, especially upon becoming "Nanna" to her two adored grandsons, “Baby Kess” and “Baby Mills.”
Ruby's life was vibrant and full of joy. In her younger days, she delighted in camping at Dale Hollow Lake and water-skiing. As time passed, those trips transformed into sunny days on a pontoon, nurturing her love for sunshine and family gatherings. Ruby was known for being the loudest voice and the brightest smile in the room, the last to leave any party, and someone who never met a stranger. She had a remarkable ability to entertain and bring laughter to those around her. Her conversations were endless, especially with her siblings, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond of love and support. Her family is as close as any family and has always been very supportive of each other and there to help at the time of need.
A woman of strong faith, Ruby grew up in the Church of God of Prophecy before transitioning to a non-denominational Christian faith in later years. Her spirit of generosity and compassion was deeply rooted in her faith that was passed down from her mother.
The family will receive friends at a visitation held at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Franklin, KY, on Saturday, February 21st, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
