Ruby Fay Coleman “Honey” Valentine passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2026 at the age of 92. She was born on December 17, 1933 to Martin Barnett Coleman and Alta Fannie Coleman in Crystal City, Texas. One of ten siblings, Fay grew up in a household full of love, laughter, and joy. She graduated from Crystal City High School and went to work for Southwestern Bell where she met the love of her life, Charles William “Chuck” Valentine. They were married in 1954 and settled in Crystal City. They were blessed with three children, Chuck, Sarah and Susan. In 1971 they moved their family to Uvalde, Texas where they spent the remainder of their lives.

Fay was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was christened “Honey” by her precious angels, the McGehee girls. When her grandsons were born, they quickly became showered with love by their “Honey.” Her life was centered around her family, her friends, and her church. Dedicated to serving her Lord, Fay taught Sunday school for many years in the Presbyterian Church in both Crystal City and Uvalde. Fay was always an active member of the Women of the Church. She instilled this same faith and love of God in her children and grandchildren.

Most afternoons could find her and her extended family of friends drinking coffee, tea and telling stories. Fay was renowned for her fabulous cooking and made sure that all who entered her home were welcome at her table. Her pies, cakes, cinnamon rolls, and fried chicken were legendary. A fantastic bridge player, Fay was a member of multiple clubs in Crystal City and Uvalde. She also traveled to compete in duplicate bridge tournaments.

Fay especially loved traveling with her family. They took many camping trips where she worked her cooking magic over the campfire. Their travels took them to Yellowstone, to Maine, throughout the western, southern and eastern United States, and all the way to Canada. After her son Chuck and his wife Suzanne moved to Mobile, Alabama, the family trips began to include many trips to the beaches of Alabama and the Florida Panhandle where they enjoyed the white sand beaches and the wonderful seafood. Her extensive cookbook collection reflects these many family trips.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Chuck, of 47 years, her nine siblings, her precious daughter, Susan Valentine McMu,llan and her lovely daughter-in-law Suzanne Grace Valentine.

She is survived by her son, Charles William “Chuck” Valentine, Jr. of Uvalde, Texas her daughter Sarah Lynn Valentine of San Antonio, Texas, her grandsons Jess Clayton McMullan of El Dorado, Texas and Lucas Matthew McMullan of Crested Butte, Colorado and her great grandson Mason Clay McMullan of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kathie Coleman Rose and numerous nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde located at 300 North Getty Street, Uvalde, Texas. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall.

The family would especially like to thank the doctor and all of the nurses, aides, and dedicated staff of Uvalde Hospice. Their loving care made this transition a peaceful journey.
