Ruby Ann Wagner, 83, of Mason City, passed away at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at OSF-St. Francis Medical Center, in Peoria. She was born August 9, 1942, in Lincoln, Illinois, to Albert and Luella (Lohrenz) Langenbahn. She married Bruce Wagner on October 21, 1961, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2017. Mrs. Wagner is survived by one daughter, Christina Schrick, and four sons, Michael Wagner, James Severtson, Christian Bolen, and Chayne Bolen; eighteen grandchildren, Bruce D. "Chip" (Lindsay) Wagner III, Tyler (Dayna) Schrick, Alyse (Garek) Eddy, Dr. Jamie (Michael) Severtson, Jessica Meaker, Jennifer (Jose) Flores, Jeremy (Amber) Meaker, MaKayla Meaker, Noah Meaker, Dakin (Nicole) Bolen, Dustin (Mary) Bolen, Cody (Holly) Bolen, Brandon Bolen, Danielle (Marlee) Bolen, Jeffrey (Taylor) Bolen, Kyle Owens, Zach Owens, and Logan Severtson; twenty-two great-grandchildren: Kalli Wagner, Londyne Wagner, Riley West, Spencer Schrick, Elly Schrick, Josie Lowe,Oakley Schrick, Mitchell Miles, Jaden Flores, Caleb Flores, Emerson Bolen, Eisle Bolen, Ellis Bolen, Kenzley Bolen, Olivia Bolen, Liam Bolen, Bentley Owens, Gabby Bell, Myla Bolen, Bayler Bolen, Maia Bolen, and Sunnie Meaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons: Bruce Wagner Jr., Douglas Meaker, foster son: Brian Nance, as well as three great-grandsons: Grayson Wagner, Gage Bell, and Tatum Meaker. Mrs. Wagner was of the catholic faith. She had been a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Columbia Catholic Church, in Mason City. Ruby and Bruce had three biological children. They opened their home to twelve foster children through the years, five of whom remained and are family members. In addition to caring for her family, Ruby worked as a caretaker intermittently, through the years, before joining the Mason City Area Nursing Home on September 23, 1991, as a CNA. In 1998, she received her certificates as both a physical rehabilitation aide and an occupational therapy aide. Ruby retired from Mason City Area Nursing Home in 2017, after twenty-six years of service. Ruby was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and anyone else who needed either a place to stay or a place to go to share a holiday. Her heart and home were open to all. Once connected, you were always considered family and welcomed. Ruby leaves behind a legacy of compassion for others, devotion to those she loved and cared about, patience, and a great strength. Graveside services will be held at Green Valley Cemetery, on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Deacon Bob Sondag will officiate. As it will be a graveside service, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Area Nursing Home or the U of I Extension for Peaceful Valley.
