Ruby E. Ward

WARD, Ruby Esther, age 84, of Washington Twp., passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Ruby was born April 15, 1928 to Leonard L. and Dallas (Hale) Ward. She graduated from Ezel High School and earned her Masters in Education from Wright State University. Ruby was an instructor at Sinclair Community College. She and her late husband, Nick Batlas, enjoyed traveling and visiting friends all over the world. Preceded in death by her son, Michael Hurley; and siblings, Edith Perry, Thurman Ward, Christine Nickell, and Carl Ward. Ruby is survived by her son, Philip (Karen) Hurley of MI; daughter, Sharon (David) Short of Centerville, OH; grandchildren, Philip Hurley II, Edward Hurley, Gwen Short, Elizabeth Hurley, and Katherine Short; two great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Ward; sister, Pauline O'Dell; numerous nieces and nephews; and friend, Katerina Pothoulakis. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 1:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering with visitation one hour before the service.
