Barbara J. Ward, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on January 13, 2026, at Sycamore Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 12, 1939, in Middletown, Ohio, to the late Woodrow and Mildred Brandenburg, Barbara’s life was characterized by warmth, creativity, and an unwavering love for those she cherished.

Throughout her career as a professional cake decorator, Barbara left an indelible mark on numerous establishments, including Woody's, LaComedia, Springboro IGA, and Malachi's Catering. Her beautiful creations brought joy to many celebrations, showcasing not just her culinary skills but also her artistic spirit.

Barbara attended Franklin High School, where her early passion for creativity blossomed. Known for her "sweet mother" persona, she loved everyone around her unconditionally. Those who knew her well would often speak of her engaging personality and her talents—she was very crafty, enjoying activities such as making jewelry, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and her fondness for hats.

Family was always Barbara's proudest accomplishment, serving as the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Ward, and her children, Anita (Loren) Taylor, Peanut (Mick) Bates, Bill (Tammy) Williams, Chris (Kristi) Williams, and Jason Ward. Barbara extended her love to her daughter-in-law, Nita Williams, along with her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom filled her heart with immense joy.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but they take solace in knowing that she was greeted in eternity by her son, Douglas Williams; grandsons, Nathan Taylor and Michael Bates; sister, Juanita Davis; and brother, Kenneth Brandenburg, who have gone before her.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on January 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at Arpp, Root, Carter Funeral Home, located at 29 N. Main Street, Germantown, OH.  Followed by burial at Springboro Cemetery.

Barbara J. Ward’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of love and creativity will continue to inspire all who knew her.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a charity that was important to Barbara, The Shriner's Hospital, or St. Jude’s Children's Research.
