Ruby Winchester, daughter of the late Jimmy and Effie Winchester, was born in Albany, Georgia on November 28, 1943.
She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System. Throughout school, she was a lively, energetic student who gained much from her educational experiences and was a ray of sunshine to teachers, peers, and close friends.
At a very young age, Ruby accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She dearly loved the Lord and remained prayerful and steadfast in service while worshipping at various churches.
Often described as a considerate and compassionate individual with a yearning to be of service and help others, Ruby was employed in private homes as a domestic worker for many years. She was highly sought after because of her natural gift for serving, loving care and attendance, and making a difference in the lives of families.
Ruby was a loving mother, doting grandmother, caring sister, nurturing aunt, reliable cousin, and compassionate friend who greeted life with open arms. She was a friend you could always count on and stood ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In her family, she was the "calm in the storm-the glue that held them together" even when things all around seemed to be falling apart.
On June 14, 2024, Ruby transitioned from this earthly life at Wynfield Park Nursing Home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianne Winchester.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Alice Winchester, Vanessa Winchester, Michael Winchester, and West Winchester all of Albany, GA; five siblings, Mable (Morris) Billings, Beverly Winchester, Betty Harper, Jimmy Winchester, Jr., and Ricky Winchester all of Albany, GA; sisters-in-law, Emma Winchester, Bonita Winchester, and Mary Harris all of Albany, GA, and Mary Taylor of Miami, FL; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
