Ruby Wood, aged 85, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Born on May 4, 1940, in Hemphill, Texas, she was the daughter of John Allen O'Banion and Susan Cunningham O'Banion.

Ruby spent many years serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Sabine County Hospital, dedicating her life to the care and wellness of others. A lifetime resident of Sabine County, she cherished simple pleasures like drinking coffee on her porch in the mornings, watching birds, and observing the beauty of flowers.

She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

Ruby is survived by her sons, John C. Webb and Gail McIntosh of Bronson, and Thomas Maxey Webb of Bronson; daughter, Cindy Ponder Hardy and her husband, Robert, of Hemphill; sister, Joyce Ezernack of Hemphill; grandchildren, Leslie Bounds, Shauna Phelps, Nicole Turpin, Delores Welch, Brittni Slaughter, Brandi Ferguson, John Thomas Webb, Anna Kessler, Rodney Kessler, Jr., Coda Webb, and Ray Davis; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Susan O'Banion; her husband, Dee Wood; son, Carl Maxey Webb, Jr.; and sister, Sue Buckner.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Gravel Hill Cemetery, with Bro. Tracy Lane officiating. The services are under the direction of Starr Funeral Home, Hemphill, Texas.

Ruby will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her nurturing spirit, and her deep love for her family and community.
