Ruby Workman Obituary
Ruby was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend. She went to Jefferson High School. She was a very active athlete playing softball and basketball on the Loebs Department store team. During World War II she was in the Civil Air Patrol. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force (USAF). After marring Jay Workman on April 2, 1948, she was a housewife and had three children. Later she drove a school bus for the Lafayette Christian School for many years, then she decided to become a cosmetologist owning and operating the Silhouette Beauty Shop for many years. Ruby was a lifelong member on Lafayette Christian Reformed Church. She was active in the Young Couples Club, Ladies Ade, Ladies Sewing group and Red Hat Society. She shared her musical talents at the church by singing in the choir for around seventy years and loved singing with the Sweet Adeline's for many years.
Surviving are children: son; Kimmet B. (wife - Jan) Workman, daughter; Janeen K. (husband – David) Jensen. Her precious grandchildren: Eric (Andria) Workman, Andrew (Emily) Workman, Peter ( Lauren) Workman and Christopher Workman. Great grandchildren: Jacob, Oliver, Elijah, Remington, Janet, Anison and Benjamin Workman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son; Stanley E. Workman
A visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 3 :00 pm to 5:00 pm March 12, 2023 at the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church 1200 Tippecanoe Street Lafayette. Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Monday, March 13, 2023 at the Church. Pastor Bryce Mensik officiating. Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
