RubyJane Riedlinger Grise, of Bowling Green and formerly of Louisville, Kentucky died Monday, June 12, 2023, at her residence in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
She was born on April 11, 1922, to the late John Riedlinger and Rosina Phillipe Weber Riedlinger in Herreid, South Dakota.
After graduating from St. Alexius, Bismarck, North Dakota, and from St. Mary School of Anesthesia, Duluth, Minnesota, and the University of Minnesota, she was a member of the Department of Anesthesia at the University of Virginia, Charlottsville, Virginia for many years.
She was a long-time member of State Street United Methodist Church. While on the church's Commission on Education, she became acting chairman in the development of the church library, through the Methodist Publishing House, and was the church librarian for 16 years. She was a member of the Current Events Club, the Delineator Club, and the Bowling Green Beautification Commission under mayor appointment. She was also a member of the Bowling Green Rose Society.
In Louisville, she was a member of the Speed Art Museum Education Department, the Filson Club, the Woman's Club of Louisville, and the Great Books Book and Discussion Group in classic literature. She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church.
Mrs. Grise is survived by her sons, Richard F. Grise, Jr., Cayucos, California; John R. Grise (Sarah), Bowling Green, Kentucky; and James S. Grise, Manhattan, New York. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Dustin Grise (Casey), Ashley Grise, Kate Grise, Jack Grise, and Sam Grise, as well as two great-grandchildren, Nolan Grise and Brynn Carley Grise.
A private memorial service will be held with arrangements entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
