Rudolph Montano Martinez, lovingly known as “Rudy” Martinez, and affectionately called “Tata Rudy,” passed away on February 18, 2026, in Chandler, Arizona, at the age of 77.
Rudy was born on August 21, 1948, in Mesa, Arizona, in Maricopa County, to Daniel and Alicia Martinez. He attended Chandler High School and went on to build a lifelong career in construction as a skilled mason. Rudy took great pride in his craftsmanship and the strong work ethic he carried throughout his life.
An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Rudy felt most at home outside. He loved fishing, spending time in nature, and sharing stories about his many life adventures. Those stories weren’t always entirely true—but they were always entertaining, and they always made people laugh. He was rarely seen without a Coors Light in one hand and a cigarette in the other, a familiar image to all who knew and loved him.
He was a devoted husband to Deborah G. Martinez and a proud father and grandfather. As “Tata Rudy,” he held a special place in the hearts of his family. Rudy is survived by his wife, Deborah; his daughter, Elena Martinez; his son, Shayne Martinez and wife Tiffany; his step-son, Parker Lund and wife Josephine; his brothers, Peter Martinez and his wife Lori, and Danny Martinez and his wife Cindy; as well as ten grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom brought him tremendous joy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, who passed at the age of 90; his father, who passed at the age of 92; and his niece, who passed at the age of 20.
A Memorial and prayer service will be held on March 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, located at 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, Arizona 85225.
