Rudy J. Antrich Jr.

Rudy J. Antrich, Jr., 82, passed away on March 22, 2024 surrounded by his family. He lived his entire life in Rosenberg, TX having been born there on December 27, 1941 to parents Rudy Antrich, Sr. and Rosalie (Hajdik) Antrich. He was their oldest child and had three younger sisters.
Rudy was a life-long member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church including his early schooling. A devout Catholic, Rudy took pride his entire life in attending church at least four times each week and always on Sunday. At Holy Rosary, he served as an usher for many decades. He was also a proud member of the Fort Bend Knights of Columbus participating in both the 3rd and 4th degree memberships for over 55 years. He especially enjoyed donning the regalia of the 4th degree Knights complete with his sword. He was a tireless worker at the church bazaar for decades barbequing and making his famous barbeque sauce there, and at numerous other charitable functions with his son Greg and their cooking crew. Other church activities included being a sponsor in the Catholic Youth Organization for nine years, serving on the Parish council, and serving as an assistant coach for various Holy Rosary School sports teams.
After graduating from Lamar Consolidated high school in 1960, Rudy served his country in the Army National Guard and Reserves from 1960 until 1967. He was an avid domino player, always willing to join a game of "straight" or "42" even in the last months of his life. He also enjoyed camping with his favorite destination being Lake Somerville.
Rudy spent a large portion of his life in route sales, starting by helping his dad deliver bread for Sunbeam bread company and culminating with spending over 40 years owning his Morton Foods distributorship. He could be seen all over Fort Bend county delivering snack foods and restaurant supplies in his white delivery truck always ready with a wave or honk of the horn to passersby. Later in his life he would brighten the days of bus riders requiring assistance on Lamar Consolidated buses and always treasured the interaction with the students and their parents. Work never seemed like work for Rudy when he got to laugh and joke with his many friends and customers.
After retiring, Rudy and his wife Lucille pursued their passion for polka dancing traveling all over southeast Texas to dances with friends. They even spent a few years as Polka royalty, rising to be Prince and Princess of the P.O.L.K. of A. chapter to which they belonged.
Rudy is survived by his former wife of more than 50 years and compassionate caregiver of the last five years, Lucille Antrich. He is also survived by his three children: Greg Antrich and his wife Kim, Darrell Antrich and his wife Julie, and Jennifer McSorley and her husband Mike. He is survived by his three sisters, Bernie Dyer, Joyce Felcman and her husband Cotton, and Debbie Mayes. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Valyn Antrich, Abby Tacker and her husband Max, Sarah Antrich, Ellen Antrich, Colton Antrich, Connor McSorley, and Kaleigh McSorley. And finally, he is survived by numerous former brothers and sisters-in law and dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Rudy is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jerald Dyer.
Pallbearers are Colton Antrich, Connor McSorley, Max Tacker, and nephews Jarrett Dyer, Brent Dyer, Gary Wick, Jay Hrncir, and Curtis Hrncir. Honorary pallbearers are Ervin Dittfurth, Michael Prihoda, Jerry Faldyn, Weldon Schulte, Frank Arndt, Rick Kristynik, Knights of Columbus #2801 3rd Degree, and 4th degree Msgr. J. J. Tydlacka Assembly 1114.
A visitation is scheduled for Rudy in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn funeral home in Rosenberg on Thursday, April 4th from 5 p.m to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 6th. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father Vipin George to officiate the services. In keeping with Rudy's spirit of generosity, in lieu of flowers please make donations in his memory to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or your favorite charity.
