Rufus Darrell Barnhill

Funeral services for Rufus "Darrell" Barnhill, 71, will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Shreveport Community Church, 5720 Buncombe Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd., Keithville, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Denny Duron.
Darrell was born November 23, 1950 to Rufus Barnhill and Elsie Mitchell Barnhill in Many, Louisiana and passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022 in Shreveport following a courageous battle with cancer.
Darrell graduated in 1968 from Woodlawn High School and attended Northwestern State University. He worked as a homebuilder most of his life. He was an avid sportsman that loved fishing and hunting. He was married to the love of his life, June Hedrick Barnhill, for 52 years.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus "Bill" and Elsie Barnhill. Left to cherish his memory is his wife; daughters, April Schnebelen and husband, Dan, Amy Berlin and husband, Brock; grandchildren, Andrew, Cole and Avery Schnebelen and Gracie, Briggs and Ava Berlin; sister, Judy Rambin and husband, Onnie; sister-in-law, Joy Jones and husband, Keith of Chesterfield, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Darrell as pallbearers will be Andrew Barnhill Schnebelen, Glen Greenman, Kevin Hagedorn, Larry Hagedorn, David Lubas and Dave Ivey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Briggs Berlin, Cole Schnebelen, Onnie Rambin, Keith Jones, Dwain Richardson and Jimmy Cook.
The family would like to express special thanks to Willis-Knighton Hospice and to the special care and compassion given by Denise Brady, Dr. Anil Veluvolu and Dr. Andrew Werner.
