Rufus Ray Greninger, 93, a resident of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Rufus was born in rural Fairland, Oklahoma, on May 24, 1932, to Perry and Emma (Barger) Greninger. Rufus graduated from Fairland High School and shortly after married the love of his life Maxine Sample of August 15, 1951. Rufus was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged he began his career in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was very proud to be an Oklahoma State Trooper where he worked until his retirement in 1978. After he retired from the highway patrol he began his second career for the Oklahoma Tax Commission where he would retire in 1997. When he was not working Rufus enjoyed playing golf, watching the University of Oklahoma, and traveling. Rufus was also very active in his church. He and Maxine worked with the youth specifically, Sunday school and vacation bible school. Rufus is preceded in passing by his parents, Perry and Emma Greninger, and siblings, Perry Jr., Ira, Raymond, Lawrence, and HK. Those left to share the memory of Mr. Greninger include his wife of seventy-four years, Maxine, sister Mildred Duniphin, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Greninger will be on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami from 3 PM to 5 PM. Funeral services will be on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Community of Christ Church in Miami. Interment will follow escorted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma, with honors being given by the Oklahoma Highway Parol Honor Guard. Services have been placed in the care of the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami, Oklahoma.
