Breaux Bridge - Catholic Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 1:30 pm at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, LA for Russel Paul Peltier, 89, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Cornerstone at the Ranch Nursing Home in Lafayette, LA.
Visitation will be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will continue Thursday, April 3rd from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday by Deacon Butch Hebert.
Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette following the service.
Readers will be Tanner Habetz and Ellie Moore. Gift bearers will be Taylor Istre and Beth Peltier.
Father Reed Bellingham will officiate. A native of Breaux Bridge, LA, Russel graduated in 1954 from Breaux Bridge Senior High. Russel attended Pelican State at LSU, representing his high school in 1953. He joined the National Guard in 1953 in Breaux Bridge and relocated in 1957 to the Lafayette division where he served a total of 9 years. He belonged to the Woodmen of the World in Lafayette and was elected President in 1973.
Having spent most of his adult life working in the grocery business, he enjoyed working for Avis Rental in retirement. He was an avid fisherman and often said "There is nothing like sitting in a boat with a fishing rod in hand and pulling in a bull bream." He also enjoyed woodworking. Russel loved to dance and his lady friends and daughters loved dancing with him. Almost every weekend he could be found at Mulate's, La Poussiere, or Pat's Atchafalaya Club.
Survivors include his daughters, Paige Eusay (Murphy) and Dana Moore (David); son Chad Peltier (Tracy); grandchildren, Tyler Istre (Taylor), Logan Peltier (Beth), Tanner Habetz (Jacob), Hayden Peltier, and Ellie Moore; great grandchildren, Ty and Clara Istre and Anna Louise Habetz; siblings, Nell Harson, Ronnie Peltier (Kathy), and Marrel Thibodeaux (Keno); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Isabelle Peltier; brother, Sterling Peltier (Gerry); sister, Earline Hebert (Jerry); granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Istre; and nephew, Bud Peltier.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caretakers at Cornerstone at the Ranch, his sitters, Nell Harson and Marie Credonia, his wonderful neighbors, and Hospice of Acadiana.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Istre, Logan Peltier, Hayden Peltier, Jacob Habetz, Murphy Eusay, and David Moore.
