Russell Barnes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Feb. 18, 2026.
Russell Allen Barnes, of Perry, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 15, 2026. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the family residence, 2500 Marshallville Rd., Perry, GA. Pastor Mike Britt will be officiating. The family request that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gentiva Hospice, 105 Jim Mason Ct #100, Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to the donor's favorite charity in Russell's honor. The family has also requested that all who plan to attend, please dress casual and colorful.

Russell was born on June 24, 1940, in Port Clinton, Ohio to the late Terry Barnes and Ruth (Franklin) Barnes. After graduating from high school, Russell proudly enlisted in the United States military, where he honorably served his country.

Following his military service, Russell began a dedicated career with Crown Cork & Seal, from which he later retired. His strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his years of service both to his country and his profession.

Russell found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed bowling and shooting pool and was an avid football fan. He also had a deep love for NASCAR racing, rarely missing an opportunity to watch a race.

He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Eunice (Spires) Barnes; his son, Kevin Barnes (Jennifer); his stepson, Gary Lynn; his stepdaughters, Connie Adams (Chris), Lisa Lawhorn, and Kim Murrah; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Joyce Jeritz. Russell's legacy of love, dedication, and devotion to family will live on through each of them.

With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
