Russell Allen Cowen, 79, of Brooklyn, MI, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Henry Ford Hospital. Russell was born on November 22, 1946, in Tecumseh, MI, to Willard and Loree (Foster) Cowen. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1965. Russell married the love of his life, Sandra Lea Marr on October 5, 1968, in Springville, MI, and who he sadly lost in 2015. He proudly served in the U.S Army as a pole lineman from 1966 – 1968. Russell was a Senior Design Draftsman at Tecumseh Products, where he designed motors for various items. He retired from Tecumseh Products in 2001. Russell was a talented wood worker and loved anything to do with engines. He enjoyed spending time in his yard and had a special love of anything John Deere. Russell adored his grandchildren and loved spending as much as time as possible with them. He will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who will dearly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Russell will be missed by his children, Craig (Karen) Cowen of Horton, Chris Cowen of Adrian and Karen (Michael) Springer of Harbor Springs; his sister, Debbie; his grandchildren, Joshua Williams, Jason Williams, Jarett (Christina) Cowen, Kourtney (Ty Defay) Hephner, Katie (Joshua) Criscenti, Caylee Cowen, Chase Cowen, Maggie Springer and Zander Springer; several great grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Loree; his wife, Sandra Cowen; his brother, Robert Cowen; and his sisters, Carolyn, Eleanor and Nancy.
