Russell R. Hignight, Jr., 75, was born on September 30, 1948, in Trenton, New Jersey. He passed on December 5, 2023.
He was a Sheet Metal Worker from 1968-2009 at RM Cotton, Bright Sheet Metal and Arc Sheet Metal having just received his 50 year Sheet Metal Worker’s Union pin. A parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, he enjoyed singing in the choir.
Russ was a baseball coach for youth little league and all-star teams for over 13 years. He was also the biggest New York Yankees fan you will ever meet. Russ was a longtime member of VFW 261 and a loyal friend to so many, taking yearly fishing trips to Patoka Lake and Dale Hollow with his best buddies. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching game shows and spending time with his family. Yearly backyard bonfires were one of his favorite activities because it brought together so many of his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel J. and Russell Hignight, Sr., his sister, Jeannette Hignight, and his brothers, Dennis and Richard Hignite.
He is survived by his children Christine Long (Darrin), Daniel Hignight (Tricia), grandchildren Ali Henry (Jimmy), Hannah Long, Megan Hignight and Jackson Long and nephew Hunter Hignight.
A funeral mass is planned at Our Lady of Grace, Noblesville on Tuesday, December 12 at 10:30 am.
A Celebration of Life Fellowship will be held after the holidays as well.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to PETA, Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude and the American Cancer Society.
