Russell Hodges Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 19, 2025.
Russell Dean Hodges, 71, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025 at Allure of Galesburg in Galesburg, Illinois.

Russell was born on Monday, November 2nd, 1953 in Galesburg, Illinois. He was born to June Rose (Olin) Hodges and LeRoy Dean Hodges. He is survived by his two brothers Randall Hodges and Tom Hodges. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Russell attended Knoxville High School and attended The First Assembly of God Church in Abingdon, Illinois.

Russell was a man of quiet strength. Though he could be ornery at times, those who knew him best understood that beneath the orneriness was a kind heart. He was an avid reader who found joy in books. He once sent a letter that contained a song he had written to Alice Cooper, which Alice Cooper responded by sending him a letter back. As a boy, Russell enjoyed the simple freedom of riding his bike. Throughout his life, he carried that same sense of independence and freedom with him. Russell will be remembered for many things, such as his kindness, wit, and his own unique mark he left on those who were lucky enough to know and love him.
