Russell Emerson Lawrence passed from this life on Friday, July 12, 2024, in his hometown of Memphis, TN. He was born in Plano, TX on February 28, 1995 and moved to Memphis as a small child.
Russell had a passionate soul that was reflected in everything he did. He developed a love for playing football that started in third grade, ran all through school and carried him to his senior year where he was a captain of the Briarcrest Christian School football team. He graduated with the class of 2013. He was a big Dallas Cowboys fan and loved watching games with his dad. He attended Mississippi State University where he developed many cherished friendships.
Russell's intelligence and ambitious spirit were obvious in the way he approached his responsibilities and planned for his future. He was very well read and informed on current and world events which led to him being a wonderful conversationalist. Anyone who got the opportunity to hear him play guitar or talk about music marveled at his God-given talent. He had a deep love and a great ear for music and enjoyed all genres. He was blessed with a wonderful charisma that captured the love and respect of those around him.
Most of all, Russell was a believer. He placed his faith in Jesus Christ at the age of fifteen.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Dr. William E. Lawrence of Memphis, TN and Janette Russell Lawrence of Bolivar, TN; Mildred and Hubert Shields of Bolivar, TN; Raymond Cothren of Henderson, TN; an unborn baby brother John Daniel Lawrence; cousins Christopher Brown and Samuel Pearl and infant Joel.
He has a big loving family left to cherish and honor his memory including many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His parents John Russell Lawrence and Lisa Cothren Lawrence, who have just moved back to their hometown of Bolivar, TN after raising their family in Memphis, TN.
His beautiful sister Olivia Ann Lawrence whom he loved dearly of Memphis, TN
His fiance' Caroline Rainey McCann of Memphis, TN, with whom he was deeply in love and had chosen to build a beautiful marriage and future.
Services are 1 pm Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Bolivar First Baptist Church with Chris Carter and Scott Pearl officiating. Burial will be in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery with Luke Gordon, Chase Thrasher, Chase Floyd, Jordan Duncan, Dane Provence, Brady Boswell, Cameron Moss, Justin Webster, John Tucker, Phillip Lawson, Mark Provence and Lane Brown serving as casket bearers. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the Baptist Cancer Center where he fought and won his battle against cancer in 2022.
