     Russell Roger May, age 78, of Burlington, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at his home. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Roy Elwood and Clara Mae Smith May. He was survived by his wife of 33 years, Peggy Ann Warren May.

     Russell was the owner and operator of May’s Masonry and formerly worked for Burlington Industries, Pioneer Plant. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed helping people. He was a member of the North Carolina Wild Foods Association and the Alamance County Historical Museum. Russell was a talented wood craftsman helping to restore the rose arbor and outside kitchen at the Historical Museum. He enjoyed various water sports and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

     He is survived by his wife, Peggy Warren May of the home; step son, Keith Brannock and his wife, Terri of Burlington; grandchildren, Cameron Sasser and her husband, Patrick of Goldsboro and Clay Brannock of Fuqua Varina; brothers, Fred May and his wife, Bernise of Burlington, Emanuel May of Raleigh and Robert May and his wife, Karen of Burlington. 

     A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Faith Christian Church by Rev. Reid Dickens.   The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

     Memorials may be made to Faith Christian Church, P O Box 1731 Burlington, NC 27216.
