Russell M. Tassin, 86, of Grimes, Iowa, passed away January 1, 2025 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa.
Russell was born in Des Moines to parents Lawrence and Ella Tassin. He attended Des Moines public schools and at the age of 17 joined the United States Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge, he began his career as an over the road truck driver. He worked for American Freight from 1970 to 1988. Then worked for the Postal Service Bulk Mail Center. He retired in 2007.
On September 23, 1988, he was united in marriage to Patricia Biery and they made home in Grimes, Iowa.
He enjoyed golfing with his brother, LeRoy and his friends.
Russell is survived by his wife, Patricia; his two daughters, Diane (Perry) Kramer and Susie (Paul) Sommerfeldt and their families; step son, Mike (Pam) DeBruyn and their children: Zac (Anna) DeBruyn, Abby Brown, and Molly Illingworth and their families; brother, LeRoy Tassin; as well as several nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Tassin and LeRoy's wife, Janelle.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in memory of his beloved dog, Buffy.
Interment with military honors will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Online condolences are welcome at www.IlesCares.com.
